Matthea de Muynck, 1988 in Rotterdam geboren, studierte zunächst klassische Philologie an der Universität Leiden und Violine am Royal Conservatoire in Den Haag bei Janet Krause. Während eines Auslandssemesters in Leipzig bei Friedemann Wezel bekam sie den ersten Unterricht auf der Barockvioline bei Mechthild Karkow. Ihrem Interesse an Alter Musik folgend studierte sie anschließend Barockvioline bei David Rabinovich in Den Haag. Zur Zeit absolviert sie ein Masterstudium am Conservatorium van Amsterdam bei Shunske Sato und Sayuri Yamagata.
Matthea nahm an zahlreichen Meisterkursen teil, u.a. mit Sigiswald Kuijken, Bojan Cicic, Gottfried von der Goltz und dem Vogler Quartett. Als Mitglied des Fidessa Streichquartetts trat Matthea in den großen Konzertsälen der Niederlande auf, internationale Tourneen führten sie nach Italien und Brasilien. Außerdem spielt sie mit namhaften niederländischen und internationalen Barockensembles, wie der De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, dem Orchestra of the 18th Century und Concerto Köln.
Matthea spielt eine Violine von Christof Klinger (1634), welche ihr von der Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation zur Verfügung gestellt wird.

Matthea de Muynck was born in Rotterdam in 1988 and started to play the violin at the age of 8. While studying Classics at Leiden University, she had the opportunity to study the violin concurrently at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. From that moment she realized that performing music was more than just a hobby. Therefore, after finishing her Bachelor in University, she continued to study violin at the Royal Conservatoire with Janet Krause. As part of this, she spent a semester in Leipzig studying with Friedemann Wezel, and while in Leipzig she received her first baroque violin lessons from Mechthild Karkow.
As early music has been one of her strongest interests, Matthea continued to study baroque violin with David Rabinovich in The Hague and is currently doing a Masters at the Conservatoire of Amsterdam with Shunske Sato and Sayuri Yamagata. Matthea has taken part in numerous masterclasses with among others Sigiswald Kuyken, Bojan Cicic, Gottfried von der Goltz and the Vogler Quartet. As a member of Fidessa string quartet, Matthea has performed in major concert halls throughout the Netherlands, and international tours have taken her to Italy and Brazil.
She also performs with renowned baroque ensembles in The Netherlands and abroad, including De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, the Orchestra of the 18th Century and Concerto Köln. Matthea plays on a violin by Christof Klinger (1634) given in loan to her by The Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation.
